Kwik King Local family makes good stories are great, and they are all the sweeter when the family makes good without leaving the area. Such is the case with Toronto's John Riley, wife Rita and family as their Kwik King stores chain continues to grow. Kwik King, which features Marathon fuels and food, beverage and deli items as well as prepared food ranging from subs to wings and chicken and more, was established more than 20 years ago with a single store in Toronto, innovating by installing a grocery drive-through window in the mid-1980s when there weren't many of those around. From there, the story of Kwik King and the Rileys' business interests has been one of growth. Kwik King opened its eighth store last week at the Colliers Way interchange of U.S. Route 22 in Weirton. It's a location sure to be popular, with tens of thousands of vehicles a day passing by on the highway, as well as the traffic generated by the nearby Weirton Medical Center, nearby neighborhoods and recreational facilities. The Kwik King is the first development of a planned mixed-use area, the Village at Colliers Way, being developed by local residents Mike Chek and Mike Heilman. As envisioned, the Kwik King will be at the head end of a development that will include residences, offices, shops and condos. They, like the Rileys, are local people investing in the future of the local community, an expression not only of faith but of good business practice based on sound reasoning. There is a case for investment in the area, and having local investments lead the way can serve to prove to other interests that there is reason for confidence and more investment. We salute the Kwik King chain and the Rileys for their vote of confidence and wish them, and the developers of the Village at Colliers Way continued success.
