The Village at Colliers Way Plans for Expansion
Village
Development is really moving forward at the Village at Colliers Way, the 42 acre multi-use development in Weirton, WV across from Weirton Medical Center. Several retail lots have been prepared, and discussions have been ongoing with a variety of prospective tenants. Altair Development Co-owner Mike Chek said the company has a "couple projects in the works" at the Colliers Way site but couldn't discuss specifics. He did say, however, that one was retail and the other a restaurant.
"We have a deposit, a contract, but it's contingent on the company getting all their approvals," Chek said. "We don't foresee any trouble, and we are pleased with the process we are making."  Chek followed up by saying when the state approvals are received, we should have an announcement by the company.  "They're doing their due diligence. The have to give us an answer by the end of June. We're hoping by then, as long as they don't run into any problems with permits, we can have an announcement", Chek added.
Kwik King, a gas station/convenience store, occupies a 1.5-acre parcel at the front of the acreage. He said if all goes as planned, the two potential tenants would occupy another 3.5 acres. More importantly, they would set the stage for Phase II of the development, which includes building condominiums and apartments.
"We have calls all the time for condos and apartments, but the development plan calls for the retail and office development to occur first. If both of these deals close this summer, we will start the infrastructure this year by putting in the roads, and the sewer and water lines. That would mean early next spring we could start marketing and building the condos and multi-family units", Chek added "My partner and I, (Mike Heilman) are pleased with the success we have had to date in moving this development forward.

Grand Theater is Becoming a Reality
Grand
The Grand Theater Restoration on South Fourth Street in Steubenville, OH has just hit the one year mark. The new roof is going on and is paid for, which is a major milestone in the restoration of this 86 year old landmark. Scott Dressel started the project in April 2010 with an email sent out to about 20 people in Steubenville.
"I sent it out to find out if anyone was interested in working on saving the Grand after I had learned it was about to be demolished for code violations", stated Dressel. "I was pleased to have all positive responses, everyone I sent it to was in favor of saving the building, but knew it would be difficult and a long road".
Dressel wanted to create an anchor for the revitalization of the entire downtown entertainment and dining district. "Historic Downtown Steubenville has a great and fascinating history, and the restoration of the Grand will help revitalize the entire downtown which has been experiencing a lot of recent revitalization through the efforts of the Steubenville Revitalization Group and Valley Ventures.
The Grand Theater Restoration Project received its tax exempt status from the IRS allowing all donations, bequests, gifts, etc., to be tax deductible. The roof phase fund raising is achieving its goal, with 133 individual donors along with a grant from the Ohio Governor's Office of Appalachia of $30,000 that has made the new roof possible. Once the roof is completed attention will begin on the front facade and signage of the theater.
Once completed the Grand Theater Performing Arts Center will feature a Performing Arts Theater seating about 1000, offering plays, performances, concerts, movies and more, as well as an Arts and History Museum of Steubenville featuring the history of all our Theaters, as well as two ballrooms for events and display space. More information on the project is available on the website a at www.historicsteubenville.org and on Facebook where Scott and fans post updates at Grand Theater Steubenville Ohio.  You can also call Scott at 740-632-2899 or email at scott@bayberryproperties.com.

Krazy Bout Sportz - Indoor Family Fun
Krazy

Krazy 'Bout Sportz, the new year-round indoor sports and entertainment facility in Weirton, WV, emphasizes youth athletics, but it's also about family activities, party rentals, concerts and much more.. The possibilities seem limited only by the imagination, when one talks to the owners. The sports facility boasts a full 6,000 square foot astro-turf field for use by both kids and adults.

This unique business has brought new life to the closed Dunbar School building at 2850 Weir Ave., and is the result of efforts by the families of sisters Mary Lou Martire-Pittman and Patty Soplinski.  Both spent years in retail and restaurant management. The Soplinski's family also has business ownership experience including the Lawn Barber and Lunar Storage.

"This was not something we did overnight," said Soplinski, who said sites were considered near Burgettstown when the deal finally came together through school building owners and developers Mike Chek and Mike Heilman and Lou Stein of Valley Ventures.

As a result of the acquistion and renovation of the facility, Krazy Bout Sportz is now servicing the community with an active schedule and includes everything from big-screen movie showings of professional sporting events, youth soccer league games, family movie nights, bands and private party rentals of all types. "There's a soccer league and the facilities are good for establishing everything from bocce to field hockey, flag football, volleyball and more.  The possibilities are endless. We can do almost anything," Soplinski said.

In addition, there are multiple rooms available upstairs to rent for everything from classroom to exercise facilities. Any instructor looking for space to conduct fitness sessions should contact Krazy Bout Sportz to discuss possibilities - and the facilities full kitchen is completed and ready to serve for cooking classes.  For additional information or to reserve the facility call Patty at Krazy 'Bout Sportz at (304) 914-3248 or visit their website at www.krazyboutysportz.com.

Tin Ceiling

Tin Ceiling Gifts Delights & Charms

Jerry Pallisco, owner of the Tin Ceiling, a unique and charming gift shop nestled along the beautiful Ohio River on Main Street, New Martinsville, West Virginia is living her dream.  Jerry has always loved design and decorating, so when the opportunity presented itself three years ago to take advantage of those talents, she took a giant leap of faith.

Steve and Jerry Pallisco have been involved with New Martinsville Riverfront Development committee, a group dedicated to the revitalization of historical Main St. for several years. Their fellow committee members and friends had already purchased Main Street property and opened business, and although there were risks involved Steve and Jerry decided they would put their money where their mouth was and invested in the future of downtown as well.

Jerry, Steve and their friendly staff offer several wonderful services that only a mom and pop shop can deliver. They care about each and every customer who walks through the door. Knowing their customers allows them to hand pick merchandise that is appealing and helps them design gift baskets to perfection.

The Tin Ceiling has something for everyone - home decor, bath products, several top lines of jewelry such as Kameleon, SilveRado and Magnabilities. The WVU section has much to offer those disconcerting WVU fans. They also provide large selections of wine, pasta and gourmet gift baskets and cookie bouquets. The Tin Ceiling provides wine tastings the first Friday of each month.

Variety and personal attention makes The Tin Ceiling at 329 Main St., New Martinsville a favorite shopping destination. Their phone number is (304) 398-4266.

Baby Boomers & Beyond
A New Type of Realtor

Baby Boomers

Baby Boomers & Beyond Realty is a new breed of real estate company that serves as a one-stop resource center for the 50+ population and their caregivers.  For some seniors, that could mean trying to age in place as long as possible.  For others, it means help in downsizing, selling their homes and finding a suitable long-term care facility.

"The traditional real estate model is ... to help people sell their homes or to find a home," said Ron Cehelsky, an agent with Baby Boomers & Beyond Realty. "Given the choice, folks would like to spend their last days in their own home."

A subsidiary of Robinson-based Airport Realty, Baby Boomers & Beyond provides free referrals to its vetted network of local service providers in more than 32 areas, including elder law attorneys, relocation specialists, auctioneers and appraisers, to provide long-term living information for seniors and members of the "baby boomers" generation -- those 78 million Americans born between 1946 and 1964.

"We have no product to sell," said J.J. Guida, a principal in Airport Realty who's been in the real estate industry for more than 40 years."  All we are hoping to do is to get information out to the people that our services exist.

Because its referrals are free, Baby Boomers & Beyond makes money only if families choose to list their homes with the company.
